We’re currently on the lookout for a Lead Tooling Engineer to join our Engineering team working on a 3 shift rotation. Reporting directly to the Toolroom Supervisor you will be responsible for maintaining and adjusting; press/stamping tools, assembly fixtures, manufacturing and machining components and equipment. As Lead Tooling Engineer you will support the toolroom supervisor to plan and co-ordinate the day to day workload for the area by effectively deploying your team and resources on shift.

Duties;

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

Performing effective reactive tooling maintenance on press/stamping tools/assembly fixtures, following the escalation procedure at all times.

Performing scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance in order to minimise unplanned downtime and quality concerns.

Liaising with Production and Quality departments to ensure machine availability to build quality parts.

Controlling and sourcing maintenance tools, equipment and spares.

Documenting breakdowns; identifying route cause and remedial action to help identify and resolve reoccurring issues.

Fostering positive working relationships within the team, department and company to encourage a cross functional approach and maximise potential within the business.

Supporting the Toolroom Supervisor to develop and co-ordinate actions to ensure business objectives within your area of responsibility are achieved within set timeframes (for example the reduction of unplanned downtime).

Supporting the Toolroom Supervisor to deploy, develop and motivate your team to maximise the potential of each individual by;

Understanding the skills, knowledge and abilities required for direct reports to carry out their role effectively

Providing clear direction and shares knowledge.

Delegating tasks to match responsibility with skills/knowledge and abilities.

Evaluating and managing direct reports on key areas including performance, conduct, attitude and attendance.

Identifying training and development needs for team members.

Maintaining a succession plan within the tooling area

What we expect:

To be successful you will;

Be a logical problem solver with excellent fault-finding abilities.

Be an effective communicator, able to report across all levels.

Have experience on high-speed production equipment, preferably in an automotive environment.

Have knowledge of lean manufacturing.

Have completed an apprenticeship in toolmaking

Have a desire to progress into a leadership role

Essential Requirements

Recognised toolmaking apprenticeship.

ONC or equivalent level qualification

Industrial manufacturing or automotive relevant engineering experience.
